In Padova we had the Scrovegni chapel to ourselves, which was unusual. We were clearly happy about it so the friendly attendant offered to take a picture of our group. Afterwards he said that now he wouldn’t forget us and we would not forget him. #romeinstituteofliberalarts #smc @smcjanterm

In Ca’ Fortuny today. Fortuny’s paintings from Wagner, his erotica, and his luxurious fabrics and fashion design all reflect an interest in Venice as a fantasy world and as a return to the past in which to escape modern life. #romeinstituteofliberalarts #smc @smcjanterm

Winter walk at Ostia Antica, the ruins of the port city of Rome. The mosaics were mostly covered up for winter, but it was a beautiful place for reflection in the December light. #romeinstituteofliberalarts #ostiaantica #sjc #uta

Had to get some routine medical exams in Rome and went to the oldest hospital in Europe, founded in the 600’s, Santo Spirito in Sassia, right next to St. Peter’s and Castel Sant’Angelo. The extant buildings of the hospital are from 1200-1500. Not bad for a doctor’s appointment. #romeinstituteofliberalarts #sjc #uta
